Pasco murder trial testimony opens Monday

Testimony is to begin May 23 in the trial of a 20-year-old man charged with shooting at a car full of people in Pasco and a later ambush-style killing.

A jury was seated Friday afternoon in Franklin County Superior Court in the case of DeShawn I. Anderson.

The 14-member panel includes two alternates since the trial is expected to last three weeks.

Anderson of Finley is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree illegal gun possession and four counts of first-degree assault.

He is accused of being one of two armed suspects who fired almost 20 rounds at a parked car on Nov. 18, 2014. Three of the four men sitting inside the car were injured.

Then on Dec. 3, 2014, Lorenzo “Richie” Fernandez Jr. was killed as he sat in his Ford Mustang at the Stonegate Apartments.

Prosecutors have said Anderson was the “mastermind” in Fernandez’s shooting and the one who pulled the trigger.

Fernandez knew the four men in the earlier attack.
