Retired Pasco police dog dies

A retired police dog with the Pasco Police Department for five years has died.

Kastor was 12 1/2 years old, according a K9 Facebook post.

The police department bought Kastor from a California trainer in 2006. The German Shepherd worked with Officer Matt Nelson until 2011.

“During his time with Pasco, (Kastor) served with honor and was able to help in the capture of many fugitives which kept the community safer,” said the post. “Kastor was known for his ‘cat like’ abilities and was able to climb just about anything.”

Nelson, who is now a Richland police officer, bought Kastor from Pasco and the dog lived with his family.
