Memorial service for fallen police is May 21

Law enforcement officials invite the public to the annual memorial service on May 21 honoring officers who have died in the line of duty.

The service is part of National Police Week and organized locally by the Fraternal Order of Police Tri-Cities Lodge No. 7, a release said. The ceremony also honors law enforcement who work around the clock to protect their communities.

The services begins at noon at the band stage in Columbia Park in Kennewick. U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., will be the keynote speaker. The Tri-Cities Optimist Club plans a free barbecue afterward.
