Grandview couple injured in collision with semi in Benton City

A Grandview couple were hospitalized Monday morning when their car collided with a semi-truck in Benton City.

Angel Barriga, 61, of Pasco, was headed west in a semi-truck and trailer on Highway 224 and was turning south onto Highway 225 when he collided in the intersection with a Buick Rendezvous headed north on Highway 225.

The wreck happened about 10:30 a.m., said the Washington State Patrol.

The driver of the Buick, Agustin Gonzalez, 73, of Grandview, and passenger Maria Gonzalez, 75, of Grandview, were injured and taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The state patrol said Barriga faces a citation for improper lane travel.
