UPDATE: Escaped cow wrangled in orchard near Richland Target
A black cow who escaped from its owners this past weekend and was seen roaming around the Queensgate shopping district has been captured with the help of a Benton City man.
West Richland police said the cow’s owner recruited Kyle Hagins of Benton City to wrangle the wayward bovine. It was caught in an orchard near the Target store in the Queensgate area.
The recently purchased black cow jumped a fence on Sunday, a day after arriving at its new owner’s home, police said. That successful escape attempt was preceded the day before by an attempt that led the cow to jump several fences before being corralled.
The cow, called Ghost by law enforcement, was seen about 6 a.m. in the busy south Richland commercial area.
Officers from the West Richland and Richland police departments as well as the Benton County Sheriff’s Office attempted to corral it but it got away.
