Man arrested after ditching gun outside Kennewick Walmart

Kennewick police have arrested a man who allegedly shoplifted recently from Walmart and ditched a firearm as he fled the store.

Chance R. Fristed, 24, was seen fleeing the store near 27th Avenue and Highway 395 early Sunday afternoon, a release said. He reportedly was seen hiding a gun under some nearby brush.

The gun was found by police. Fristed was arrested later on Sunday and booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of theft and a firearms violation.
