Kitchen fire damages Hanford prefabricated house

Richland firefighters put out a blaze Friday evening at a small house at 92 Goethals Drive.

They arrived about 7 p.m. to find heavy smoke. The fire started in the kitchen, which was heavily damaged, and there was smoke damage throughout the house, said Lt. Dave Roney.

The house appeared to be a prefabricated house built for Hanford workers from the days when Richland was a government-owned town.
