Herald carrier’s car stolen, crashed after chase in Pasco
A Tri-City Herald carrier had his Chevy Blazer stolen and then crashed into the Pasco building that houses Angel’s Salon in Pasco early Friday morning.
The carrier was approached in Kennewick by a 17-year-old who wanted a ride, according to police. He refused but when he got out of the car to deliver a paper, she stole it.
Kennewick police alerted Pasco police as the driver, a Kennewick teen, headed toward Pasco about 2:45 a.m. A police car was waiting at the Pasco side of the cable bridge, but she failed to stop, according to Pasco police.
After a short pursuit, the driver crashed into the southeast corner of a building at Lewis Street and Fifth Avenue, with the front half of the SUV ending up inside. She was not injured and was taken to the juvenile detention center on suspicion of attempting to elude police and possessing a stolen vehicle.
