Mesa woman injured in collision south of Connell

A Mesa woman was injured Saturday morning on Highway 395 south of Connell when the vehicle she was riding in was hit from behind by another car.

Driver Steve D. Kinne, 40, and passenger Schuylena R. Kinne, 38, both of Mesa, were driving southbound in a Chevrolet Cruze in the left lane seven miles outside of Connell, a Washington State Patrol release said. Leonardo Rios Caballero, 36, of Lamont, was driving close behind them in a Ford Taurus.

When Steve Kinne slowed down, Rios Caballero ran into the back of Kinne’s Cruz with the Taurus.

Schuylena Kinne was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland; her status was not immediately available. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Rios Caballero was cited for following too closely.
