Prosser teen crashes into back of semi

A Prosser teen was injured after following too close and then hitting a Freightliner semi truck on Interstate 82 Tuesday outside of Prosser, the Washington State Patrol said.

Deysi Olivera, 18, of Prosser, was driving a gray GMC two-door pickup in the westbound lanes shortly after 1 p.m. about five miles east of Prosser. Olivera struck the eastbound semi-truck driven by Petia Valdes Martinez, 41, of Harrisburg, Pa.

Oliver was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, the state patrol said. Martinez wasn’t injured.

Olivera was cited for following too close, the state patrol said.
