Wanted suspect leads Kennewick police on car chase
A wanted man evaded capture early Wednesday after allegedly leading police on a short car chase.
Police are searching for Richard James Rotter, 44, following the incident shortly after midnight.
Police were notified about a suspicious car in the area of Third Avenue and Washington Street.
Officers found Rotter, who is well known to police, asleep in a running car, according to a Kennewick police news release.
Rotter sped off when he realized police had arrived, driving recklessly on Washington Street, police said. Officers quickly called of the chase for safety reasons.
Police say Rotter has several outstanding warrants and no driver’s license.
