Police deploy spike strips to stop suspect in Franklin County car chase

Law enforcement used spike strips to stop a Moses Lake man who allegedly tried to crash into a police cruiser and led authorities on a long car chase through Franklin and Adams counties.

A caller reported a suspicious person driving a Ford pickup truck Wednesday night in Basin City. The suspect had stopped by the caller’s property earlier in the day and made odd comments.

Franklin County deputies tracked the pickup to Hendricks Road and tried to pull the vehicle over, authorities said. The driver, Darcy Price, 59, took off and led police into Adams County.

The chase involved deputies from Adams and Franklin counties, the Washington State Patrol and Connell police.

Authorities twice put down spike strips over the course of an hour and a half.

The chase continued for about 20 miles on Highway 395, with Price driving on the rims of the vehicle, causing front end damage, authorities said.

The pickup eventually broke down, but Price refused to surrender, authorities said. After a short standoff, Price was arrested and booked into the Franklin County jail on suspicion of felony eluding.

Price did not say why he was at the property in Basin City or what led to the chase, authorities said.
