Trial set March 22 for Kennewick teen who allegedly solicited teacher for sex

A March 22 trial has been set for a Kennewick teen charged with sending naked pictures and videos of himself to his former middle school teacher.

On Wednesday, defense attorney Laura Mapes said they’re still working on getting all of the evidence in the case.

The 14-year-old boy allegedly sent 15 messages through Facebook over several months soliciting sex.

The teacher, who rarely checked her Facebook page, found all of the messages when she logged in for her birthday late in the year.

The teen is charged in Benton County Juvenile Court with two first-degree counts and one second-degree count of dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The child pornography charges are felonies.

He also faces one gross misdemeanor count of cyberstalking.

The boy, who was 13 at the time, used his first name when identifying himself to the teacher, according to court documents. He also attached a clothed picture of himself showing his face, and gave his cellphone as a contact number.
