Former Marine sworn in as newest Kennewick police officer

A former Marine helicopter crew chief was sworn in Thursday as the newest member of the Kennewick Police Department.

Steve Engel was sworn in by Chief Ken Hohenberg at a ceremony at the police department.

The 2006 graduate of Kennewick High School will attend the police academy starting in February.

Engel was deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq during his time with the Marines. He is married and has two children.
