Pasco man sentenced for distributing child pornography

A 36-year-old Pasco man will serve a federal prison sentence for distributing child pornography.

Anthony Ryan Jacobs was sentenced Thursday in federal court to five years behind bars, to be followed by 10 years of court supervision.

He also was ordered to forfeit the “numerous digital items that he used to store and distribute child pornography” and he must register as a sex offender.

He pleaded guilty last fall.

Jacobs used a peer-to-peer file sharing account to share and distribute child pornography images online, said a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

“Undercover law enforcement agents located child pornography files Jacobs was making available for download and later obtained a federal search warrant for Jacobs’ residence,” the release said.

U.S. Secret Service agents searched his home and seized digital devices he used to store and distribute the child porn, the release said.

A forensic examination of his personal computer revealed images and videos, it said.

This case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, the justice department’s nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
