Richland disturbance leads to arrest of fugitives

A pair of fugitives were arrested after three suspects allegedly ran from Richland police at an apartment complex.

Police were called about a disturbance at an apartment on the 2500 block of Duportail Street at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday. The resident of the apartment told police three people, who had visited the apartment earlier, were now trying to get back in.

The woman apparently feared the trio was going to rob her.

Police identified the suspects and learned they were running from the complex, authorities said. Officers surrounded the area and a police dog was used to search for them.

Kayla M. Monk, 27, eventually surrendered to officers. She had a warrant in a drug case.

Joshua M. Chavez, 28, also was arrested after police say he jumped a fence. He had a warrant in connection with a robbery case.

Police are continuing to search for the third suspect, Casey T. Mallone, 24.

Anyone with information on Mallone’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at 509-628-0333.
