A man was taken to the hospital after he was burned in a fire Sunday at the Tahitian Inn in Pasco, officials told the Herald.

The fire broke out shortly before 5 p.m. in one of the rooms at the motel on West Lewis Street.

Firefighters from the Pasco Fire Department were able to get the blaze out quickly and keep it from spreading through the motel.

The unidentified man was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco. Police say he had burns to his face. It’s unclear how serious the burns are or if other parts of his body were burned.

The fire destroyed the room and partially spread into at least one other room at the motel, fire officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Flames and smoke closed down a section of West Lewis Street for a while and the motel was evacuated.
