New Franklin County deputy sworn in
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office swore in a new deputy on Tuesday but he’s not new to law enforcement.
Deputy Shane Thorson worked for nearly five years at the Connell Police Department.
Before that he was a second lieutenant in the Army, recently being awarded a Purple Heart after explosions from mortar rounds at a U.S. military base in Iraq left him injured. He also worked for the Kennewick Police Department for five years.
Thorson is married with a 5-year-old daughter and is working on his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University.
He will be a patrol deputy for the county.
