Woman’s body found in east Kennewick gravel pit

The body of an unidentified woman was found early Sunday in an east Kennewick gravel pit by a man walking his dog.

The man called authorities after making the discovery about 9:30 a.m., according to a release from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. The gravel pit is off Yew Street near the Benton County Fairgrounds.

The woman is described as between 45 and 60 years old. A cause of death hasn’t been determined.

The Benton County coroner has scheduled an autopty today, and law enforcement are continuing to investigate.
