UPDATE: Kennewick police arrest suspect in fatal Christmas Eve shooting on suspicion of second-degree murder
Kennewick police have arrested a man on suspicion for second-degree murder in a fatal Christmas Eve shooting.
Francisco Javier Munoz-Quintero, 20, turned himself into the Benton County jail about 6 p.m. Friday. Police said at the time that they considered him a person of interest in the homicide case of Luisa Alejandra Garcia, 21.
About midnight, Kennewick police edited a post on their Facebook page announcing they had arrested Munoz-Quintero on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Officers also sought and found a Nissan Sentra, Washington plate AQM2459, around 9 p.m. in the area of 5th Avenue and Olympia Street. Police did not say how the vehicle was connected to the case.
Police got a call about 11:20 p.m. Dec. 24 that a woman had been pushed from a vehicle on the 600 block of North Tweedt Street. The woman, Garcia, had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds, police said.
She was taken to Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick, where she was pronounced dead.
