West Richland man arrested for DUI after crashing into car

A West Richland man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence after driving into the back of another car on an Interstate 82 exit ramp in Granger, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Jason P. Lakey, 35, of West Richland, was driving a 2008 Ford Fusion on the exit ramp just before 8 a.m. when he failed to stop and struck a 1994 Chevrolet Caprice sedan, driven by Scotty W. Elliston, 55, of Yakima. Elliston was stopped at the stop sign on the exit ramp, the state patrol said.

Lakey was not injured and Elliston, whose car was totaled, was taken to Toppenish Community Hospital with unknown injuries, the state patrol said.
