Students report injuries after bus crash in Richland
Four children suffered minor injuries Thursday after their school bus slid off the roadway in south Richland.
The bus was driving on Broadmoor Street in the Meadow Springs neighborhood just before 8:30 a.m. when it hit a patch of black ice, slid and jumped over the curb onto the sidewalk, said Richland school officials.
A second bus was sent and took the students to their school, Orchard Elementary. One boy’s ankle was swollen and his mother picked him up to see a doctor. Another boy went home because of a headache.
Richland was operating on snow routes Thursday because of the winter weather but it was otherwise the only Tri-City school district to start schools on time that day. Kennewick was on a two-hour delayed start while Pasco schools ended up canceling classes for the day.
