SUV rolls on icy I-182 in Pasco, injuring two
Two people were injured Sunday afternoon when their SUV rolled because the driver was going too fast for the icy conditions on Interstate 182 in Pasco.
Brian E. Hirt, 44, and his passenger, Gabrielle J. Hummel, 19, were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland for treatment.
A Washington State Patrol report said Hirt was eastbound at 2:55 p.m. when he lost control of a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer, causing it to roll.
The crash happened at Road 68.
The Richland man and his passenger from Lakewood were wearing seat belts at the time, troopers said.
The state patrol and Pasco officers reportedly responded to a number of collisions Sunday afternoon on I-182 because the roadway was “a sheet of ice,” police said.
