A Pasco police officer and bystander on Thursday afternoon rescued a man from his vehicle after it crashed into a light pole and caught fire.

The officer saw the vehicle driving recklessly on Court Street as it head toward the Highway 395 overpass at 3:20 p.m. before the crash, a release said.

The driver, who wasn’t identified, suffered non-life threatening injuries. Authorities think alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash and the driver is being investigated for driving under the influence.
