West Richland police arrested a man early Friday after he allegedly robbed a convenience store only a few hours earlier.
Police were called to Kennedy Mart at Kennedy and Dallas roads at 10:15 p.m. Thursday night, a release said. A witness said a man wearing a black hoodie and stocking cap and blue jeans with a goatee, entered the store, went to the counter as if to buy something and instead showed a gun to the clerk and demanded cash.
The clerk gave an undisclosed amount of money to the man, who fled in a dark-colored SUV. Nobody was hurt during the robbery.
Richland police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office worked with West Richland officers to search for the man.
The SUV was found near the corner of Mulberry Drive and Warbler Lane just after midnight, and the driver, Michael Senter, 46, was arrested, said West Richland police.
Senter was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of first-degree robbery, theft, weapons violations and driving on a suspended or revoked license. Police said evidence from the robbery was recovered but no details about that evidence was released.
The incident is still under investigation and anyone who saw the robbery is asked to call 509-628-0333.
