Fire damages Richland home, sends man to hospital
A fire severely damaged a Richland home Monday afternoon and sent an elderly man to the hospital.
The man managed to escape as flames started devouring the inside of the house on the 2400 block of Dover Street about noon.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation, said officials.
One dog got out safely and was taken to a nearby veterinary clinic. Another dog is still missing.
Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire.
It took crews just 10 minutes to get the fire under control but it had spread into the attic.
The fire was so hot it threatened a neighbor’s house, but firefighters from Richland, Pasco and Benton Fire District 1 and 4 kept it from spreading.
