Kennewick police find runaways, stolen SUV, guns, drugs
A check on an underage runaway in Kennewick ended in the discovery of drugs, stolen guns and a SUV stolen from Olympia.
Kennewick police say they were called Saturday to a house on the 800 block of South Alder Street to see if a runaway might be there. Officers heard movement inside the house, but left after no one answered the door.
They returned later and found a SUV reported stolen from Olympia sitting in the driveway. They arrested Ethan Piper, 18, of Kennewick, as he was leaving the house.
Then two more younger teens, both Kennewick runaways, ran out the back door, said police.
A teenage boy was found in a nearby yard and held on suspicion of possessing stolen property, police said. A teen girl was found in a closet.
Officer eventually obtained a search warrant and found two stolen guns, drugs and drug paraphernalia and stolen tactical police gear in Piper’s room, police said.
Piper was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen gun, unlawful possession of a gun and possession of drugs, said police.
