Two teen kidnapping suspects to return to Washington
Two Kennewick teens agreed Thursday to return voluntarily to Washington state to face charges of kidnapping an elderly Kennewick woman, binding her hands, hiding her in a car trunk and driving her to Oregon.
The woman’s great-grandson Dyllan K. Martin, 16, and his friend Billy Underwood, 15, waived extradition in an Oregon court and will be returned to Kennewick to face charges of kidnapping, burglary and car theft. Charges filed in Oregon will be dropped.
The third suspect, 14-year-old Katlyn Kenfield, is charged with the same crimes in juvenile court but did not agree to voluntarily return to Washington, said Benton County Deputy Prosecutor Terry Bloor.
Martin and Underwood allegedly planned for several weeks to steal Hazel Abel’s car and run away to Portland, court documents said. The pair reportedly talked about killing the 86-year-old Kennewick woman and burning her body in her car trunk or leaving her in a remote area to die of exposure.
Abel managed to escape from the car when the teens stopped and went inside a Walmart.
