Grandview man arrested after chase ends near Benton City

A 39-year-old Grandview man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly leading police on a 25-mile car chase that ended east of Benton City.

Police were called to the 600 block of Wine Country Road about 7:30 a.m. for a report of someone trespassing. Officers spotted a man in a pickup truck wearing a ski mask.

The man started the truck and took off, ignoring police sirens and driving through red lights until he reached the interstate. He drove east at speeds of 70 to 90 mph, said Grandview police.

The engine in the pickup eventually gave out and stopped just outside of Benton City on Interstate 82. He was arrested at gunpoint by Grandview police, Benton County sheriff’s deputies and the Washington State Patrol.

Grandview police did not release the suspect’s name but he was booked into the Grandview jail.
