Three injured when car rolls 110 feet off I-82
Three Idaho residents were injured Saturday afternoon after the car they were in rolled off a 110-foot embankment on Interstate 82 four miles west of Benton City, officials said.
A 2007 Toyota Camry, driven by Andrea B. Miller, 41, of Rathdrum, Idaho, struck a 1993 Mitsubishi Diamante, driven by Caryl L. Briggs, 65, of Yakima, in the rear just before noon while both were driving west, the Washington State Patrol said. The impact forced Briggs’ car into a 1950 Chevrolet flatbed pickup it was following, driven at a slower rate of speed by David L. Briggs, 64, of Yakima, state patrol said.
Miller’s car rolled twice, going over the embankment before coming to rest on its wheels, state patrol said. One I-82 lane was blocked for four hours.
Miller and two of her passengers were taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Caleb T. Daigle, 29, of Coeur d’Alene, was flown to the hospital and listed in satisfactory condition Saturday evening. Miller and Vanessa I. Ramirez, 31, of Coeur d’Alene, were treated and released.
The occupants of the other vehicles weren’t injured, the state patrol said.
Miller is facing a charge of speed too fast for conditions, the state patrol said. The cars driven by Miller and Caryl Briggs were totaled, while the flatbed pickup was driven from the scene.
