Kennewick Red Robin evacuated for small fire

The Red Robin restaurant in Kennewick was evacuated Saturday evening because of a fire on the top southeast corner of the building.

A customer at a nearby Taco Bell, which is uphill from Red Robin on North Columbia Center Boulevard, spotted the fire, according to the Kennewick Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find a fire burning in an enclosed parapet and extinguished it before it damaged the interior of the building. The restaurant was expected to be open for business as usual Sunday.

The fire appeared to have started from a faulty electrical system that controlled power to the building’s outdoor decorative neon lighting, the fire department said.

Kennewick Fire Department was assisted by the Richland Fire Department, Benton County Fire District, the Benton Public Utility District and the Kennewick Police Department.
