Richland man arrested for pulling gun, making death threats

A Richland man is accused of pulling a pistol and pointing it at another man’s chest during an argument.

Police arrested Richard R. Jones, 60, on Monday in the backyard of a Richland home near Waldron Street and George Washington Way.

The victim had gone to a friends’ home Oct. 23 to help a woman with her computer, Richland police said. Jones, who lives at the house, started arguing with the victim and ordered him to leave.

The woman, who owns the home, told the man he could stay. Jones left and returned a short while later with a pistol, and he allegedly pointed it at the victim and threatened to kill him.

The other man left and called police.

Police waited until Monday, when Jones was alone at the home, to arrest him. He was taken into the Benton County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and felony harassment.
