SUV strikes telephone pole along Highway 124 near Burbank

A West Richland man was taken to the hospital as a precaution Sunday after his SUV struck a telephone pole along Highway 124 near Burbank.

William A. Laughery, 71, was behind the wheel of his 2000 GMC Yukon when it left the roadway.

Washington State Patrol troopers are investigating to determine why the GMC, which was westbound on the highway, hit the pole at 12:51 p.m.

Laughery was wearing a seat belt. No one else was in the SUV at the time of the crash, the state patrol said.

An ambulance took Laughery to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.
