Bail lowered for suspect in Pasco prostitution sting

A Tri-City judge significantly lowered bail Thursday for an alleged pimp busted in a recent sting at a Pasco apartment.

Judge Vic VanderSchoor lowered bail for Jerry D. Porter from $250,000 to $10,000, said attorney Scott Johnson, who is representing Porter.

Porter, 27, is charged with second-degree promoting prostitution and is set to be arraigned next week. Johnson said his client plans to post bail.

Johnson told the Herald bail was too high considering the charge and Porter’s lack of criminal history.

“(Prosecutors’) whole allegation is based on that he dropped a woman off at the Red Lion and he had a hotel key in his pocket,” Johnson said.

Porter was arrested at the Pasco hotel Oct. 8 during the sting, which was part of an effort by the FBI to crack down on human trafficking nationwide.
