Tri-City community group starts petition to oust Pasco police chief

A community group formed in response to the police shooting of a rock-throwing man is petitioning for the resignation of Pasco Chief Bob Metzger.

An online petition created by Tri-Cities Community Solutions was posted to the web Thursday. The petition had about 25 signatures after being up for 19 hours.

The group encouraged citizens to write the city council and Mayor Matt Watkins with complaints.

Metzger could not be reached Thursday about the petition.

Community Solutions has organized protests in response to the February shooting of Antonio Zambrano-Montes, 35.

The group is planning a vigil on Saturday at the corner of 10th Avenue and Lewis Street, where Zambrano-Montes was killed, for the eight-month anniversary of his death. The event starts at 4 p.m.
