Tri-City man charged with having child porn claims he is addict

A 20-year-old man charged with sharing illicit videos and pictures of young girls allegedly told detectives that he is addicted to child pornography.

Joshua Snyder faces trial Nov. 16 in Benton County Superior Court on one count of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

He has pleaded innocent to the felony charge, and remains in jail on $10,000 bail.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children on Aug. 1 learned about possible child pornographic images that had been uploaded to an email account.

That information, which included the specific address for the computer network, was forwarded to the Kennewick Police Department because the national organization believed it had occurred in that jurisdiction.

Snyder’s first and last names were part of the email address listed in the CyberTip, according to court documents.

Kennewick police Detective Joe Santoy then determined Snyder was the probable suspect based on the location of the computer network and the email account, documents said.

Police got multiple search warrants for Snyder’s electronic and digital storage devices, and a forensic analysis allegedly showed that Snyder uploaded the pornographic material, which included pictures of a child having sex with an adult.

Santoy discovered at least 25 videos and images of child porn that Snyder had downloaded just on Sept. 23 before his arrest, court documents said.

Snyder told detectives that he downloaded the materials and shared various videos of girls, ages 13-15, documents said.

Richland police assisted in the case because Snyder lived on Fontana Court at the time of the investigation. He now lists a Kennewick home address.
