Alleged gang members arrested in Walla Walla shooting

A drive-by shooting in Walla Walla led to the arrests of four suspected gang members.

The shooting happened shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of East Cherry Street. No injuries were reported.

Police spotted a vehicle with the four suspects inside leaving the area and stopped it.

Police suspected the driver, Jose Manuel Quintero, 21, was under the influence. His passengers — Diego Bante Rivera, 20, Alejandro J. Lomeli, 18, and a 17-year-old boy — also were reportedly under the influence, said police.

Police arrested the suspects and took them to the police station where they refused to answer questions.

Investigators searched the car and reportedly found a .45-caliber handgun. The suspects are being held on suspicion of complicity to commit a drive-by shooting. Quintero is also being held on first-degree unlawful possession of a gun and DUI.

Police say Lomeli had just been released from jail on Sept. 14 for his suspected role in a May drive-by shooting.
