Driver in serious condition in Seattle hospital after Kennewick crash

A Toppenish man was listed in serious condition in intensive care at a Seattle hospital Thursday evening after his SUV struck a Kennewick overpass four days earlier.

Andres Sandoval, 38, was driving west on Highway 240 about 10:30 p.m. Sunday when his 1994 Jeep Cherokee left the road to the north and struck the Edison Street overpass, the Washington State Patrol said.

He first was taken to Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick and then to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The state patrol is investigating.
