Dust storm causes three car pileup near Prosser

A dust storm that swept through the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas caused a three car pileup Friday afternoon south of Prosser.

The crash sent Cydney Riddle, 21, and Sergio G. Mendez, 51, both of Oregon, to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Riddle was driving a Dodge north on Highway 221 about 3:40 p.m. when she crashed into the back of a Subaru Forester driven by Mendez, state patrol said. The Subaru then crashed into a semi-truck.

Both the Dodge and Subaru were totaled and towed from the scene.
