New commander promoted in Kennewick

Kennewick Sgt. Chris Guerrero was promoted to commander Monday by police Chief Ken Hohenberg .

The former detective became patrol sergeant in 2009 and has been with the department since 1996.

He was one of the first officers assigned to the Tri-City Regional SWAT Team and Kennewick’s Criminal Apprehension Team.

Guerrero has also served as a training officer, defensive tactics instructor and less-lethal instructor with the department.
