Umatilla prison put on lockdown following small riot
Two Rivers Correctional Institution in Umatilla was on lockdown Wednesday after a small riot broke out.
At least 24 inmates were involved in fights around 9 a.m. in the prison’s general population living area, said Sherry Iles, prison spokeswoman.
Prison staff were able to break up the fights and inmates were put in special housing.
There were at least two inmates who required medical attention following the brawl at the medium-security facility.
Oregon State Police are investigating the incident. The prison houses 1,800 male inmates.
