Kennewick police warn of scam involving Verizon
Kennewick police are warning citizens about a scam popping up around the area.
Spokesman Mike Blatman said people are receiving calls from a 206-315-3010 phone number telling them their Verizon phone account is either past due or suspended. The scam then asks the person to call 800-249-2462 to enter their credit card number.
Blatman said there are no reports of people losing money to the scam, but he wants people to be aware it is out there and not to enter a card number. The same scam has been reported to police as far back as July 2001.
