A driver is expected to survive after being thrown out of car when she lost control at Highway 240 and Columbia Center Boulevard on Monday afternoon.

The 2:45 p.m. crash closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 240 and entrances to the highway from Columbia Center Boulevard for about half an hour.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was heading east on the highway when her white Lexus left the roadway between Columbia Center Boulevard and Edison Street, Trooper Daniel Mosqueda told the Tri-City Herald.

The Lexus drove into the median, and she overcorrected, sending the car flipping.

The driver was thrown out and landed on Highway 240. Mosqueda said she suffered non-life-threatenig injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

She was not believed to be wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, he said.

Police have not determined what caused the crash and are continuing to investigate, Mosqueda said. Witnesses said she did not appear to be driving erratically before the wreck.
