A 27-year-old boater is under investigation for assault by watercraft after colliding with another boat while allegedly intoxicated, according to court documents. One man was injured.

Ignacio A. Villalobos of Pasco allegedly had been drinking canned cocktails before crashing into the boat at the Columbia Point Marina last Thursday, court documents said.

It’s not clear if the collision was on the Columbia River or in the marina. A man and his father were fishing in the other boat, and the younger man suffered a 2- to 3-inch cut above his eye, which needed to be treated at Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

When a Benton County sheriff’s deputy talked with Villalobos, she smelled intoxicants. Villalobos said he had some Cutwaters, which are pre-mixed cocktails in a can. He did not say when he drank them or how many he had, court documents said.

Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired, said the documents.

He was booked into the Benton County jail and later released after posting a $1,000 bond.
