Prosser man accused of sexually assaulting child 100 times
A 36-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting a child about 100 times, and now investigators believe there may be more victims.
Benton County sheriff’s detectives began investigating Cesar E. Munoz, of Prosser, after a young teen came forward in early 2025 and said she had been sexually abused for about seven years.
Prosecutors charged Munoz last week with three sex crimes, including child rape and child molestation, according to court documents. A $300,000 warrant was issued.
Detectives arrested Munoz on Thursday and seized multiple electronic devices as part of a search of his home.
After interviewing Munoz, detectives believe there may be more victims.
Detectives are still investigating the case, and are asking anyone with information to email Detective Tara Marks at Tara.Marks@co.benton.wa.us or Sgt. Horacio Gonzalez at Horacio.Gonzalez@co.benton.wa.us.
Child rape
The sheriff’s office began looking into Munoz after April 2025 the victim told her mother about the alleged abuse. She claimed that it started when she was 5 years old and lasted about seven years, court documents said.
The victim told a forensic interviewer in January that she would wake up around Munoz and find herself partially undressed.
He allegedly showed her pornographic images and said “they could be like the girls in the photos,” court documents said.
He also raped her multiple times between when she was 7 and 11 years old. The victim estimated that he had sexually assaulted her about 100 times during that period.
She explained that she felt like she had to come forward or it would never stop.
When she told the man that she didn’t want to be around him any more, he begged her not to tell her mom.
