A 45-year-old man was allegedly caught with a “large amount of fentanyl” and a stolen gun during a search related to a Kennewick murder.
The investigation into the deadly shooting of 16-year-old Alex Carcamo-Danley in front of the Heatherstone Apartments led detectives to a home on the 700 block of South Beech Street, Kennewick police said in a Facebook post.
It’s not clear how the home or search are related to the murder. Two teens — Jacob Carrillo, 15, and Israel Hutchison, 14, — have been arrested and charged in relation to the shooting. Court documents don’t include any connections with the Beech Street home.
Prosecutors have filed paperwork to try both teens for murder in adult court. A Benton County Superior Court judge will make that decision in “decline” hearings at a later date.
The Tri-City Regional SWAT team helped detectives serve the search warrant at the home. Inside, they found Pedro F. Baltazar, 45, and four firearms — one of which was stolen — along with fentanyl packaged for sale.
Baltazar is not legally allowed to own a gun, according to jail records. He has multiple felony convictions, including a 1998 robbery, second-degree burglary in 2006 and attempting to elude police in 2007, court documents said.
Before his arrest on Wednesday, Baltazar was facing charges of illegally having a gun and drug charges stemming from a December 2024 arrest.
He was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of four counts of illegal firearm possession, one count of having a stolen gun and one count of delivering a controlled substance.
He appeared in court by video on Thursday. His bail was set at $500,000.
“Detectives remain focused on collecting additional evidence and identifying all individuals involved to ensure everyone responsible is held accountable,” police said in a Facebook post.
Heatherstone shooting
Hutchison and Carrillo met each other following a fight at Hanford High School in November, according to court documents.
The two soon became friends and began sharing Instagram messages about gang involvement and discussing committing a gang-related shooting. Carrillo and Hutchison allegedly have ties to Surenos gangs.
Carrillo and Hutchison along with two other teens allegedly went to the Heatherstone apartments looking for a rival gang member on Dec. 3, 2025.
Carcamo-Danley was allegedly on his phone when the Honda the teens were driving stopped at the parking lot of the “L” building. Carrillo allegedly fired six times, hitting the teen in the neck and killing him.
Investigators used security cameras in the parking lot to identify the teens involved in the shooting, and tracked the car back to a West Richland home.
Police searched Hutchison’s phone and discovered the series of Instagram messages between the two teens.
