Thieves ram stolen car into Kennewick landmark pizza restaurant
The owners of Hubby’s Pizza are working to reopen after someone rammed a stolen car into the downtown Kennewick landmark early Thursday.
It’s not clear how many people were inside the stolen Hyundai Elantra when it broke through the wall of the business between 3 and 4 a.m., Officer Peyton Hannah told the Tri-City Herald.
The suspected thief or thieves grabbed an ATM from inside and tried to open it. They only managed to pull the top off the machine.
They then got back into the Elantra and drove to the 700 block of Deschutes Avenue, where police found the car on fire.
Hubby’s Pizza shared a picture of the damage on its Facebook page. It shows a large hole in the wall with bricks scattered on the floor, and one pillar hanging by a piece of metal.
“As of right now, we are closed,” the post said. “But we are going to work hard to be hope for you as soon as we possibly can.”
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.
