The shooter fled before police arrived, and the wounded person was taken to a local hospital and was in stable condition. Merkl said Tuesday that the wounds aren’t life-threatening.

Police closed down Fourth Avenue between Olympia Street and Quincy Street for a time Monday night while searching for the suspect.

Merkl said Tuesday that detectives are still early in the investigation and aren’t prepared to share any information about the shooter.

Police are asking anyone with video or information about the shooting to call Kennewick police through the non-emergency dispatch number at 509-628-0333.
