A driver accused of causing a crash that injured two Kennewick residents ran from the wreckage and has not been found or identified, according to a Washington State Patrol report Sunday afternoon.

A GMC Terrain SUV was behind a Toyota Highlander SUV, both headed east through Burbank on Highway 124 near Flat Top Road in Walla Walla County, just before 6 a.m. Sunday.

Jose Sandoval-Oregel, 52, of Kennewick, attempted to make a left turn and was hit from behind by the GMC, according to WSP.

Sandoval-Oregel and his passenger, Laura Sandoval-Rojas, 44, of Kennewick, were both taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco by ambulance. Both were wearing seat belts.

Negligent driving was the cause of the hit and run crash, said the WSP.
