Gunfire near Columbia Point Golf Course shuts down busy Richland street
Gunfire near the Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland sent drivers scattering Monday and forced the closure of a busy street.
An employee working in the area of Bradley Boulevard east of George Washington Way heard the series of gunshots about 1:45 p.m., according to emergency dispatch reports.
Witnesses said the shots may have come from a white SUV heading south on Bradley Boulevard toward the more affluent neighborhoods along Columbia Point Drive.
Then, they heard a second round of shots, Richland police Commander Damon Jansen told the Tri-City Herald.
Investigators shut down Bradley Boulevard while they checked the area for shell casings, according to dispatch reports. They discovered at least one.
It’s not clear whether the shooter was aiming at someone or firing into the air, Jansen said.
No one was reported injured, and police found no damage, he said.
Bradley Boulevard, which winds around the Columbia Point Golf Course, sees about 30,000 drivers on average daily, according to a recent analysis from the Benton and Franklin Council of Governments.
